The Moon Balloon

Why is this site named moonballoon.org? The Moon Balloon is a hot air balloon constructed by Head Balloons, Inc (www.headballoons.com) in 1993 in Helen, GA. This was Steve’s first balloon. Steve traveled to Georgia to help Tarp Head construct the balloon and Steve did most of the weaving of the basket. By looking at a photograph of the balloon, it’s clear why it is called The Moon Balloon. Steve has since retired from flying and recently the balloon was given to his son-in-law who is currently taking balloon flying lessons.  Nancy had her first ride in Steve’s balloon shortly after  they met in May of 1995.  The flight over White Sands National Monument appeared on the cover of NM Magazine and marks the beginning of their adventures together.
