Nancy and I were very fortunate to receive an invitation to the President’s Suite for the Penn State versus University of Washington Huskies football game. It was a famous Penn State “White Out” game where all of the PSU fans wore white. Beaver Stadium is widely known as one of the toughest venues for opposing teams in collegiate athletics.
I grew up approximately 30 miles south of State College. My brother still lives in nearby Hollidaysburg and we stayed with him during our visit.
College of Science Tailgate
The Penn State College of Science held a White Out tailgate Friday evening at the Marriott Foundation Building located on campus.

Fans Tailgating in the Parking Lots
The parking lots around Beaver Stadium turn into a massive tailgate before each home game. Although the kickoff time was at 8:00 PM the lots opened at 8:00 AM. Thousands of tailgates circled the stadium.

President’s Tailgate
The President’s Tailgate was held at the Penn State Baseball Stadium, Medlar Field. Kickoff was at 8:00 PM and the tailgate was held from 5:30 to 7:30 immediately before the game. My brother, Randy, was a guest at the President’s tailgate.

The Game from the President’s Suite
This was my second visit to the President’s Suite. Indoors with plenty of food and drinks. The views are great and we didn’t miss the freezing cold outside.
This game had 110,233 people in attendance. This was the 9th largest crowd in Beaver Stadium history. Beaver Stadium is the second largest stadium in the United States (after Michigan) and the fourth largest in the world.

A Pennsylvania Fall
Fall in Pennsylvania is always a nice time of year. I miss the three of the seasons there but not the winter!

Randy Shope’s Mountain Top Getaway
My brother, Randy, has nearly 100 acres in Cambria County. He’s built a lake on it, a barn, and lately he has finished a pavilion with a stone fireplace and pizza oven.
